North Macedonia’s ombudsperson calls government to adapt laws for further use of Albanian language

Skopje, 23 March 2026, dtt-net.com – The Ombudsperson of North Macedonia has called country’s government to initiate adaptation of three laws in the Parliament for use of Albanian language, amid new disputes and tensions between Macedonians and ethnic Albanians over interpretation of country’s law on languages, local media reported. Faton Selami has made a formal request las week to the governing coalition of the Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, over law on Jurisprudence, Notary and Bailiff, to harmonize the three laws with the Law on the Use of Languages, news website portalb.mk reported publishing the official request addressed to the government.
