Kosovo PM distributes 100 euros for pensioners, children, students, workers 2 weeks ahead of early elections

Prishtina, 22 May 2026, dtt-net.com – The government of Kosovan Prime Minister in technical mandate, Albin Kurti, today announced that it approved “immediate support” of 100 euros for pensioners, children, ‘non-public’ sector workers and students, a decision which comes at the middle of election campaign for early parliamentary election of June 7. Kurti said at the government session that the measure is part of the 200 million Euros from the Inflation Response Package 2.0. The measure additionally includes decision to increase as of this month allowances for mothers of newborn babies, for a period of six months with 500 euros per month for non-employed ones and 250 for employed mothers. The decision was immediately criticised by the opposition why accused Kurti of “attempt to bye” votes, and the American Chamber of Commerce which said that such one-time measure is not a proper response to country’s socio-economic problems.
