Brussels, 08 June 2026, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) said today that it has approved the scheme of Italian state aid to local companies aimed at supporting production of electricity using onshore wind, solar power, hydropower, and sewage gas.

According to the EC and Italian authorities, new installations which will benefit from the state aid are expected to add a total of 37.15 GW of renewable electricity capacity in the country, which represents around 48% of current RES (Renewable Energy Sources) capacity in Italy.

According to the calculations the scheme will significantly contribute to Italy’s decarbonisation objective of reaching 39.4% of gross final electricity consumption from renewable energy sources by 2030.
