Strasbourg, 08 July 2026, dtt-net.com – The EU legislative body today in a resolution blasted Serbia’s continuing boost of relations with Vladimir Putin’s Russia and ongoing weaponry purchases from China to strengthen its military muscles further, on top of multiple criticism of rule of law and democracy backsliding in the candidate country ruled by the authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic.
The European Parliament “deplores Serbia’s continued close ties and deepening partnership with Russia, which raise concerns about its strategic orientation and undermine a credible path towards EU membership,” they said in the text voted by 468 votes in favour, 116 against and 79 abstentions.
