Podgorica, 20 August 2026, dtt-net.com – A pro-Serbia member of Montenegro’s parliament today showed documents of Serbia’s Defence Ministry alleging that the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic, is member of Serbia’s army since February 2023, prompting calls from the opposition for his resignation.
In a press conference, the leader of the Serb Democratic People’s Party (DNP) and until recently governing partner, Milan Knezevic, distributed to the media alleged application of Spajic to the Serbia Defence Minister through the Embassy in Podgorica, the positive decision of the Serbian ministry to register him as a member of reserve army’s force and the third recalling his obligation to duty if called by the ministry.
Knezevic is a close ally of Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic.
Spajic became head of government in October 2023, after June 2023 elections with the support of three Serb parties.
According to Knezevic, Spajic came to power thanks to Serbia’s President, but has now become opponent of Vucic and Serbia’s government.
“If it weren't for Aleksandar Vucic, Spajic would never have become prime minister,” Knezevic told reporters.
According to him, Spajic until recently “had all the time human, institutional, and all other support from Aleksandar Vucic, whom he in the end betrayed”.
