Tirana, 11 May 2025, dtt-net.com – Albanian Central Election Commission (CEC) said only 41,16 % of eligible voters participated in Sunday parliamentary elections, a more than 7% less than 4 years ago.

Two exit polls gave opposite forecast.

The first, by Albanianpost daily, a media close to the outgoing Prime Minister Edi Rama, says Rama’s Socialist Party (PS) would get 51,8 % of votes, while its main opponent, the Democratic Party (PD) of the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha would get 38 %.

A second exit poll, by the Syri TV, close to Berisha, says the PD would get 53,15% and Rama’s PS 45,12 %.

According to CEC, with 32700 votes counted until midnight, which is 2.1 % of votes counted, the PS is leading with 53,82% followed by the PD with 35,03 %.

The counting process by CEC personnel is going very slowly.

CEC has reported complaints of parties of irregularities in several polling stations, including group voting, vote photographing and multiple voting.

CEC has also reported of problems with electronic ID identification equipment, pressure on commissioners and false commissioners.

Physical clashes between opponents are reported in two cases, and arrests were made by the police, on top verbal disputes and tensions in several polling stations.

At the same time, the PD has filed complaints to the CEC and special structures of the prosecution formed for elections, on multiple irregularities. The PD has also accused the PS of vote buying and use of state administration resources and people during the election day on its favour.
