Tirana, 16 October 2026, dtt-net.com - Albania’s leading opposition party called Friday for an anti-corruption probe into a massive €6 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) contract, raising sharp questions about sovereignty, supply guarantees, and why a Greek company was inserted into a deal with the United States.
The Democratic Party of Albania (PD) called on the Special Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Prosecution Office (SPAK) to aggressively investigate the 20-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in April 2026.
The contract, brokered by Prime Minister Edi Rama’s government, binds the Western Balkan nation to a multi-billion-euro energy pipeline alongside U.S. supplier Venture Global and Greece-based constructor Aktor Energy.
