UPDATED : Developing story: Blast damages Kosovo key water supply canal in Serb-predominantly municipality, officials blame Serbia

• Water supply to several Kosovo towns interrupted amid terrorist attack on critical water infrastructure last night in the Serb-predominantly northern municipality.
• Electricity production continues as authorities have found temporary alternative solutions to provide water for cooling system at the KEK power plant.
• Albania on standby with electricity supply if need be.

Prishtina, 29 November 2024, dtt-net.com – A crucial canal of water supply from the Iber-Lepenc lake, which supplies the nearby Mitrovica town and the electricity plant near capital Prishtina, was heavily damaged by a blast tonight around 19h in a village of the Serb-predominantly municipality of Zubin Potok, with police and local water company deployed urgently trying to halt further damages and restore the supply.

I condemn the attack on the water canal in Zubin Potok that is depriving considerable parts of Kosovo from water supply. I have already offered EU’s help to Kosovo’s authorities. The incident needs to be investigated and those responsible brought to justice.
