EU Commission reaffirms commitment to enlargement with existing rules and rights as Albania and Serbia leaders propose alternative

Brussels, 02 March 2026, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) avoided commenting directly the proposal of Albania and Serbia leaders for EU integration of candidate countries without vote powers, commissioners and seats in the European Parliament (EP) and access to only EU single market and Schengen area, but reaffirmed its commitment to make accession of the aspirant countries happen with the existing rules for full membership.
