European Greens say Serbia’s EU pathway at risk by Vucic’s regime

Belgrade/Brussels, 16 April 2026, dtt-net.com – The European Green Party (EGP) today warned that Serbia’s pathway toward the European Union is being harmed by President Aleksandar Vucic and the government he controls, while at the same time accusing European People’s Party (EPP) - where Vucic’s Progressive Party (SNS) is member – of shielding the authoritarian Serbian leader. The EGP warned in a press statement today ahead of visit to capital Belgrade that the country’s European path is being “actively undermined” by Vucic and his government and called for “urgent democratic safeguards and accountability,” while reaffirming its commitment to working with member party Green-Left Front (ZLF) and other Serbian partners to “defend democracy and keep Serbia on a credible path towards European Union membership.”
