European organization calls Albania to do more on rights of Macedonian community

Tirana, 21 September 2026, dtt-net.com – A European organization representing 100 member organisations from 38 different European countries called Albania authorities to take concrete steps for language, culture and identity of Macedonian community in the EU candidate country. In a adopted resolution during the Congress held in Helsinki during the weekend on the proposal of Macedonian society “Ilinden” organization in capital Tirana, The Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN)  Albania authorities to “sign and ratify the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages; to take effective measures against the denial and assimilation of the Macedonian identity; to preserve the Municipality of Pustec as a separate administrative unit; and to rename it the Municipality of Prespa, restoring the historical name of the region.”
