Brussels, 19 June 2026, dtt-net.com – Hungary’s new Prime Minister Péter Magyar expressed today his disapproval of some other EU countries willing to accelerate accession negotiations with Ukraine, while Western Balkans countries continue the process for years in a usual merit-based rhythm.
Magyar said in a press conference that as the first group of negotiating chapters was opened for Ukraine this Monday, some member states would like to speed up the process for the candidate country, which he said would be unfair toward Western Balkans countries and at the same time would “discredit” the EU itself.
