Brussels, 19 June 2026, dtt-net.com – The percentage of Serbia citizens who are against membership of the country in the European Union is higher than of those in favour, according to a new opinion survey published today by the European Commission (EC).
The survey says that 40,1% of citizens are against Serbia’s membership in the European bloc, of which 15,3% answered ‘somewhat oppose’ and 24,8% “strongly oppose”, when asked “do you personally support Serbia’s accession to the EU?’
Only 31,4% are in favour of joining the EU, which is the lowest in the Western Balkans six countries, of which 11,0% ‘strongly support’ and 20,4% ‘somewhat support’ accession in the European bloc.
26,6% of Serbia citizens interviewed have neutral position on EU accession, while1,9% don’t have an answer to the question.
At the same time, 52,1% of Serbia citizens “tend not to trust” the EU, while 39,8% ‘tend to trust’, according to the survey.
Russia is the country, which majority of Serbia citizens ”tend to trust” the most, 58,4% respectively, followed with trust to China at 54,5%.
In Albania, support of citizens in the highest in the region, 92,4% respectively, followed by Kosovo citizens with 83%, Montenegro 68,3%, North Macedonia with 66,7% and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) 63,7%.
