Skopje, 20 October 2026, dtt-net.com - The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, has added to the confusion surrounding a proposal made yesterday by his new Albanian government colleague regarding bar exams for Albanian students and ongoing disputes over overall use of Albanian language in country’s institutions and structures, including judicial system.
Mickoski used the current, controversial judicial policy, which mandates a Macedonian-only rule in legal proceedings and trials-to justify his stance on the ongoing dispute between the students and his government.
When asked about the proposal presented to the students on Monday by Minister of Justice Jeton Shasivari, Mickoski told reporters that the written portion of the bar exam for Albanian law students can be taken in the language in which the candidate completed their studies, but the oral portion must remain in Macedonian.
