Tirana, 30 September 2026, dtt-net.com – The President of the European Commission, Ms. Von der Leyen, arrived in Albania with news that everyone would want in normal times: controlled integration into the EU.
At first glance, this is good news for Albania, but when you analyse it, you realize that this not only carries conditions but is completely undeserved.
Ms. Von der Leyen did not speak in her speech about the Rama government scandals which are completely linked to corruption and organized crime;
Ms. Von der Leyen did not mention drug trafficking and its direct connection to Edi Rama for a moment;
Ms. Von der Leyen did not talk about the Tirana-Durres railway that she herself promoted and which was supposed to be completed two years ago;
Ms. Von der Leyen did not talk about the Port of Durres, an investment with dirty Albanian money and hidden under the name of a sheikh from the Emirates, therefore not European;
Ms. Von der Leyen did not talk about the tigers in Vlora; she did not talk about Smart City – investment outside the EU countries, nor about Durana, the Ecopark or the incinerators – although the environment, she said, is a fundamental issue for the EU.
Ms. Von der Leyen did not talk about the cancellation of the law on Protected Areas, nor about the Strategic Investments law, nor about Fiscal Amnesty, nor about the arms trafficking from this “EU candidate” country, this trafficking carried out in Africa and countries where the EU provides assistance and humanitarian aid…
Ms. Von der Leyen did not talk about Zvërnec, nor about the 120-odd days of Albanian protests against Edi Rama and his repression. She did not talk about the stolen elections, the Albanian Intelligence Service and the threat that the situation poses to the EU, nor about the lack of media freedom in Albania.
Ms. Von der Leyen didn’t even talk about the College of Europe that she herself promoted a year ago, even though her friend Mogherini is under arrest for corruption; she didn’t even talk about the autocratic Edi Rama!
We have always thought that Edi Rama uses these [EU] officials with lobbying to save himself and not for Albania. He has done it everywhere and with anyone who offered him breathing space and power despite his scandals.
The misfortune is that this time the President of the European Commission came to Tirana to save the face of the Commission and not Edi Rama.
The Balkans are currently in an open field between American and EU interests. Unfortunately, at some cardinal points, these are no longer converging in the Balkans.
The EU is going through a difficult political situation, where right-wing sovereigntist forces are gaining more and more electoral ground in the main countries of Europe by the day and the EU is going through a difficult security and energy situation.
News that Russia could attack Europe is now a daily occurrence. And in this difficult autumn of 2026, the EU needs territories, allies, geographical expansion from Canada to Moldova and Ukraine and of course in the Balkans.
This is the reason for the door that is opening at this moment for Albania, even though Albania has slipped into a Narco-Dictatorship because Brussels turns a blind eye!
The US trumpets the war against communism, drug trafficking and international organized crime every day. The EU is fighting for survival.
What an interesting day it was today!
New American Ambassador Eric Wendt, to whom I wish a warm welcome and a successful new chapter in Albania, was scheduled to meet the Prime Minister in the morning…and in the afternoon the announced visit of the President of the European Commission, who forgot that she had come to the capital of the European narco-state; and with them, the [Flamingo] [protesters who have been relentless for more than a hundred days continued their chorus…
Edi Rama, with a weak voice, knowing that his ticket has been cut elsewhere and this time not even the EU in need can save him!
Quo vadis Albania… time for a new chapter, as Ambassador Wendt predicted yesterday…
