Tensions in Kosovo Parliament and chaos over formation of new institutions

Prishtina, 08 August 2026, dtt-net.com – Unconstitutional resumption of constitutive session of Parliament held today, a day after 30-day constitutional deadline passed, was adjourned on the demand of the leader of biggest party, Albin Kurti of the Vetevendosje (LVV), again, as still no deal over new President with opposition parties following June 7 early elections. The brief resumption of today saw a member of an opposition party throwing eggs toward Kurti because of his refusal to continue the session for election of parliament’s Speaker and other bodies, as tensions between two sides loom amid institutional chaos in the country following third elections since last year and most likely the fourth one for later this year. After the chairperson of the session, Avni Dehari of the LVV, interrupted the session until an unknow date or time, on Kurti demand who asked for more time for a deal with opposition parties, angry MP Time Kadrijaj of the Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK) throw eggs toward Kurti, prompting intervention of security and other lawmakers to prevent further escalation.
