Tirana, 21 July 2025, dtt-net.com – Italy and Greece are helping Albania authorities with two firefighting planes each in the ongoing struggle with wildfires in the country amid high temperatures.
Albanian Agency of Civilian Defence said today that two Canadair planes sent by Italy helped in the Lura National Park in northeastern Albania and two others sent by Greece in Dukat of Vlorë country in the south.
Three Albanian firefighters were sent to hospital today amid breathing problems during interventions against wildfires, according to the agency.
The agency said that during the last 24 hours, a total of 23 fires have been reported, of which 7 are still active and 2 others are under monitoring.
In neighbouring North Macedonia authorities said that on Monday a total of 29 fires have been registered, of which 5 still active, 6 under control while 18 extinguished.
