Sarajevo, 27 January 2026, dtt-net.com - Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) today in a report addressed criticism to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) over ill-treatment of detainees, of which slaps, punches, kicks, blows with batons and from the barrel of pistols or assault rifles to various parts of the body and also poor living conditions in some facilities.
The body called BiH state, entity and cantonal levels authorities in BiH “to issue a clear statement of zero tolerance for torture and ill-treatment of detainees, provide targeted training on manual control techniques, introduce audio-visual recording of all police interviews, and better regulate the use of force and the independent assessment of its proportionality.”
