Belgrade/The Hague, 27 May 2026, dtt-net.com – 8 people of a human smuggling ring are arrested in a joint operation by Serbian and Spanish police, helped by the EU police coordination office (EUROPOL), on charges of smuggling Cuban nationals through Western Balkans region to Spain, EUROPOL said.
The criminal organisation, operating from Spain and Serbia, was allegedly involved also in document fraud and money laundering, on top of smuggling Cuban nationals through Serbia by exploiting visa-free travel and then transported through the region to Greece to reach Spain, according to a press release.
