Sarajevo, 11 July 2026, dtt-net.com – Thousands attended today’s burial ceremony of remains of ten Bosniak victims at Srebrenica-Potočari memorial centre on the 31st anniversary of the Genocide, when more than 8000 Bosniak boys and men were slaughtered by Serb entity army.
Every year since 1995, remains of victims found in different locations in the Srebrenica surroundings are exhumed and buried in Potoçari memorial centre.
31 years ago, Serb entity forces massacred 8372 Bosniak civilians in Srebrenica area.
The number of found victims – in different mass graves in and around Srebrenica area – and buried in Potočari is nearly 7000 so far. Bodies of more than 1000 victims are still being searched.
The killings in Srebrenica in July 1995 were perpetrated by units of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) entity under the command of General Ratko Mladic, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017 by the International Criminal Tribunal for former-Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague, Netherlands.
The wartime political leader of Bosnia Serbs, Radovan Karadzic, was also found guilty of Srebrenica slaughter and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The ‘Scorpions,’ a paramilitary unit from Serbia, who had been part of the Serbian Interior Ministry until 1991, also participated in the massacre.
The ICTY and courts in BiH have sentenced more than 50 people so far over the Genocide, while some others indicted have found refuge in Serbia.
In May last year, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring July 11 of 1995 as annual Remembrance Day of the Genocide in Srebrenica.
