Belgrade, 10 August 2026, dtt-net.com – An opposition party in Serbia has come up with a new idea how to halt influence and meddling of people in power in the decision making and the work of prosecution, and proposes formation of a new police department under the sole authority of the prosecutor’s office and not minister of interior or/and other politicians in power as is the case with current police department run by government.
The Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) in its reform program says that that if it comes in power after early elections expected later this year, it will adopt a new ‘Law on the Special Prosecutor's Office for High Corruption and the Prosecutorial Police’, within 30 days of ruling.
