Bosnia floods death toll rises to 22

Sarajevo, 13 October 2024, dtt-net.com – Bodies of twenty-two people are found so far in Herzegovina-Neretva County (HNŽ) of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and searches continue for two others reported missing, authorities said following severe floods and landslides in the Bosniak-Croat entity ten days ago.

“According to official data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Herzegovina-Neretva County, the number of confirmed deaths in flood-affected areas of HNŽ is now 22 dead,” the government of HNŽ county said Saturday in a media statement.

Out of the total number of fatalities, eighteen people are from Jablanica, four from Konjic. There is an active search for two more missing persons, one from Konjic, one from Jablanica, it said.

Members of the European Parliament (EP) last week called the European Commission to allocate funds for reconstruction of damaged areas in the county, on top rescue and emergency assistance by the EU and its member states.
