Brussels/Skopje, 18 June 2026, dtt-net.com – New Bulgarian prime minister today blasted hopes of his North Macedonia’s counterpart for eventual negotiations for a compromise aimed at unlocking the four-year impasse of EU accession negotiations for Skopje.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev told today Bulgarian media that he is not planning to meet with Hristijan Mickoski over the issue, as until today the latter was hoping for talks for a compromise between Bulgarian-imposed condition through the EU in 2022 to change North Macedonia’s constitution to include Bulgarian community in it, and Mickoski’s counter-conditions for Bulgaria granting rights to Macedonian community in Bulgaria and EU guarantees that Sofia would not impose additional conditions which relate to Macedonian history and language.
