Brussels, 06 August 2026, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) said today it has approved, under EU State aid rules, a €780 million Dutch scheme to support the production of 40 000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year through electrolysis method.
The scheme is planned to avoid 324 000 tonnes of CO2 annually, and it follows two previous Dutch schemes approved by the EC in July 2023 and July 2024, to support electrolysis capacity in the Netherlands.
In 2023, the EU body greenlighted €246 million Dutch state aid for renewable hydrogen production, followed by the second one in 2024 of €998 million.
