Hungary to investigate 1-billion-euro loan to North Macedonia

Skopje/Budapest, 24 July 2026, dtt-net.com – Hungarian new authorities will launch an investigation over the loan given by the former government of Viktor Orban through the state-owned Exim Bank to the government of North Macedonia, the new Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced, citing low interest rate of 3,25% and Hungarian state guarantees. Magyar told reporters in a press conference that the loan in two tranches to North Macedonia is the fourth one to be investigated.
