Kosovo judicial body rejects Serb judges return to posts after 4 years of Serbia-sponsored massive resignations

Prishtina, 28 August 2026, dtt-net.com – The Judicial Council of Kosovo (KJC) yesterday rejected a request of local Serb judges and administrative staff to return to job after four years of their massive resignation ordered by Serbia in a boycott push for formation of autonomous body with special powers for ten Serb-predominantly municipalities. “Following the 371st meeting of the Kosovo Judicial Council, the request for the withdrawal of resignations of judges and support staff from the Serbian community was reviewed. In this case, after addressing and reviewing this agenda item, the KJC, by majority vote, has decided to reject the request for the withdrawal of the judges' resignations and has decided to propose to the President of the Republic of Kosovo the dismissal of the judges,” the body said in a press statement, rejecting July withdrawal of Serb judges and staff in the four northern Serb-predominantly municipalities. Acting President Albulena Haxhiu is expected to sign the decision, as she did with the same decision of the body on prosecutors last month.
