Belgrade/Brussels, 29 August 2024, dtt-net.com – The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, Thursday defended Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic decision not to join EU sanctions on Russia over military aggression against Ukraine, arguing that Serbia is not a member of the European bloc and as such its decisions against sanctions on Moscow are of a sovereign country, which he said is a “good thing”.

“We have no lessons to give. We coordinate the sanctions at European level. If Serbia would have been in Europe (EU) I would have told him it’s not good that you don’t do the sanctions. It’s not in the European Union, so it’s sovereign over its policy of sanctions, and it’s a good thing”, the French President said, while praising Serbian counterpart over humanitarian aid to Ukraine and also ammunition and logistics supplies, and for endorsing EU declarations for peace in Ukraine.
