Tirana/Kyiv, 20 December 2024, dtt-net.com – Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry said embassies of Albania, Argentina, Montenegro, Palestine, Portugal and North Macedonia, all located in one building, are damaged in today’s Russian missile attack on Ukrainian capital.

“All these embassies are located in one building, which was significantly damaged by the Russian missile strike. These are the embassies of Albania, Argentina, Palestine, North Macedonia, Portugal and Montenegro. The premises have broken windows, doors, damaged fragments of the ceiling,” the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhy, told reporters in a press conference.

“This is an absolutely barbaric attack and blow by Russia to diplomatic institutions,” he added.

Tykhy said that in other locations in the capital there are dead and wounded.

In a media statement, North Macedonia’s government strongly condemned today’s missile attacks by the Russian army on Kiev.

“We also inform you that the attack also hit critical infrastructure in the Goloseevski region, including the building housing six embassies, including the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia. No diplomatic personnel were injured in the attack, but material damage was caused to the Embassy,” the foreign ministry in Skopje said.

EU’s new chief of diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, also condemned the attack that damaged Portuguese embassy.

“Russian missiles damaged the Portuguese Embassy in Kyiv. No diplomatic representation should ever be targeted or even impacted. This is another barbaric attack by Russia on civilian targets that shows no willingness for peace. I extend my full solidarity to diplomatic staff,” she wrote in a post on X.

Albanian Foreign Affairs Ministry also reacted condemning the attack.

“As a result of these attacks, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Kyiv, as well as the embassies of five other countries, were partially damaged, endangering the lives of diplomatic personnel. Only material damage has been reported. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs unequivocally condemns these brutal attacks. This senseless act is an attack on the very foundations of international diplomacy. The protection of diplomatic personnel and the inviolability of missions are non-negotiable principles that must be fully respected and upheld,” it said in a post on X.
