North Macedonia and Serbia officially join gas Vertical Corridor initiative to lessen dependence from Russia

Thessaloniki, 04 September 2026, dtt-net.com – The two countries of the Western Balkans today officially became part of the Vertical Corridor initiative after signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with gas transmission companies of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Moldova, and Ukraine. "A significant step towards expanding regional energy cooperation was taken today with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the companies participating in the Vertical Corridor initiative . DESFA and the participating companies officially welcomed NOMAGAS of North Macedonia and Transportgas-Serbia of Serbia to the initiative, further expanding the Vertical Corridor to the Western Balkans,” Greek gas transmission company said in a press release over the signature which took place in Thessaloniki, in the margins of the gas forum held today in the Greek town.
