No new enlargement steps for W. Balkans countries at EU Summit

Brussels, 14 December 2023, dtt-net.com – Heads of state and government of 27 EU member countries at their meeting in Brussels had no good news for aspirant six countries from the Western Balkans region when it comes to their membership process in the European bloc.

Albania will not open first cluster of negotiating chapters this month in EU accession talks because of Greek veto.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will not launch talks because it’s not ready yet with reforms.

Montenegro will not close any cluster amid stalled reforms.

Serbia will not open or close any cluster over the same reason, mixed with refusal to join sanctions on Russia.

North Macedonia will not open first cluster of chapters because of failing to meet Bulgaria imposed condition to change its Constitution.

Membership application of Kosovo made a year ago is still not being treated and is kept in silence by 27 member states.
