Skopje/Strasbourg, 09 July 2025, dtt-net.com – An initial draft-report adopted by the European Parliament’s foreign affairs committee (AFET) included a wording on respecting “Macedonian identity and language”, but the phrase was taken off today in final text adopted at EP’s plenary after a compromise between political groups following complaints of Bulgarian members, prompting anger and protest by North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
Mickoski in a special press conference held in Skopje accused Bulgaria of aiming to destroy Macedonian nation and identity.
