Prishtina, 14 September 2026, dtt-net.com – A former diplomat and former judge of Kosovo today announced withdrawal for presidential post candidacy, amid lack of sufficient support from lawmakers needed for his election in the parliament, following a last month deal between leaders of a ruling and one of opposition parties.
Bekim Sejdiu, was agreed to be candidate for president post by the leader of the June election winning party, Albin Kurti, and of Democratic League (LDK) Lumir Abdixhiku, but 6 of 18 lawmakers of the latter refused to extend support, on top of other lawmakers from two other opposition parties, arguing that the Sejdiu was not a consensual candidate agreed by all, but only by two parties, two leaders respectively.
