Belgrade, 16 September 2025, dtt-net.com – More than 200 professors from universities across the world have signed a letter in support to Serbian Students movement calling the European Union to condition membership negotiations amid ongoing repression on protesting students by the government controlled by authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic.
“We call on the European Union to condition Serbia’s accession negotiations on tangible progress in safeguarding and upholding fundamental rights and values—most notably the rule of law, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, and the autonomy of universities—while ensuring accountability for those responsible for the recent violence,” reads the call initiated by professors at the Stanford University ten days ago.
