Sarajevo, 28 April 2026, dtt-net.com – The EU, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands handed over yesterday specialised equipment to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to help local border police better fight against migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
The handover included a package of equipment with specialised magnifiers for document inspection, heartbeat detectors for finding people in hidden compartments of trucks and other vehicles – in situations that often involve inhumane conditions and life-threatening risks – and a patrol boat for responding to incidents on rivers, including search and rescue operations in cases where migrants attempt dangerous crossings and put themselves at risk of drowning, the EU office in Sarajevo said over the equipment of 200,000 euros, under the EU4FAST project.
