Belgrade, 05 June 2026, dtt-net.com – The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, today in Belgrade reiterated calls of the European bloc to authoritarian President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, to join EU sanctions on Russia over ongoing military aggression against Ukraine.
Costa said in a press conference with Vucic in Belgrade that Serbia should align “with the European Union’s policies and values, in particular our [EU] Common Foreign and Security Policy.”
Representatives of the EU institutions and of member states have been making the call for more than 4 years now to Vucic, but Serbian President continues to refuse to join sanctions on Russia with which Serbia under his leadership continues building stronger ties, including in defence sector.
