Serbia’s President meets Russian ambassador a day after bad news from the EU on stalled accession talks

Belgrade/Brussels, 09 July 2026, dtt-net.com – Authoritarian President of Serbia meet Thursday with Russian Ambassador to discuss bilateral ties, a day after EU member countries did not reach a consensus on unlocking Serbia accession talks stalled for nearly five years now amid backsliding in democracy and rule of law in the candidate country. Aleksandar Vucic said in a media statement that he had a “very good talk” with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Bocan-Harchenko about “relations between Serbia and the Russian Federation, as well as regional and global issues.”
