Tirana/Belgrade, 16 August 2026, dtt-net.com – Albanian authorities reported Sunday 27 wildfires of which 8 still remain active and 4 are under monitoring. According to the Ministry of Defence, 100 army members are helping nearly 400 firefighters and police officers in the ongoing fight against blazes amid heatwave in the country. Serbia authorities said that 193 are registered Sunday with most of them localized.
The largest efforts are focused on the fire sites in Deliblatska were more than 2000 of hectares of forest are burned so far.
In Montenegro, the interior ministry reported 9 wildfires on Sunday, while Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) authorities reported more than ten wildfires with most of them in the Bosniak-Croat entity, where army forces are helping firefighters from the air to extinguish fires.
In North Macedonia the situation seems stabilizing for the time being, as authorities reported wildfires Sunday only in one location in capital Skopje surroundings, where efforts continue to put it under control.
