Berlin, 01 July 2026, dtt-net.com – The share of electricity from wind, solar, biomass and hydropower represented 57,76% of total production of electricity in Germany in the January-June period of this year, according to preliminary data.
According to the preliminary calculations from the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) and the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), a total of 152.2 billion kWh of electricity was generated from renewables.
“Of this, 20.1 percent (52.9 billion kWh) came from onshore wind, 5.7 percent (15.0 billion kWh) from offshore wind, 19.9 percent (52.4 billion kWh) from photovoltaics, 8.3 percent (21.9 billion kWh) from biomass, and 2.7 percent (7.2 billion kWh) from hydropower,” reads a press release from the two associations.
111.3 billion kWh were generated from conventional energy sources. In the same period of the previous year, the figure was 109.3 billion kWh.
In the first half of 2026, gross electricity generation amounted to 263.5 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), or 4 percent more than in the same period of 2025…
