Brussels, 02 September 2026, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) announced today approval of German government state aid “capacity mechanism” of up to €35.2 billion, including for new gas-fired and Hydrogen-ready electricity plants, for additional production and storage of electricity.
“All supported capacity benefitting from 15-year contracts will be required to operate in a climate-neutral way by 2045 at the latest. All new gas-fired power plants bidding for a 15-year capacity contract must be hydrogen-ready, so they can switch in due course,” the EC said today over the German government plans aimed at delivering first concrete results in 2031.
