EU Commissioner calls members states for unity in appointing next Bosnia envoy

Luxembourg, 15 June 2026, dtt-net.com – The European Commissioner in charge of enlargement of the EU, today called government of 27 member states to speak with single voice in appointing a new envoy for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), as Italy has sided with the USA in support of an Italian candidate for the job, while France and Germany are in favour of a French candidate, following early resignation of German envoy. “I hope that the European Union will unite behind a candidate for the position of High Representative, who will then work in the best interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also in the best interest of the European path of this country,” Commissioner Kos told reporters ahead of ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg, where the situation in the Western Balkans country is part of the agenda.
