Hungarian MOL close to reaching deal for purchase of Russian majority shares in oil refinery in Serbia

Belgrade, 15 January 2026, dtt-net.com – Hungarian MOL company is about to reach a deal with Russian companies which own majority of shares in NIS oil refinery in Serbia later this week, according to Hungarian officials, thus to meet the condition of ending USA sanctions on NIS which are part of sanctions on Russian Gazpromneft imposed in January by Joe Biden’s government over Moscow military aggression against Ukraine. Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó told Serbian public broadcaster today that MOL and Gazpromneft are likely to conclude a deal with next three days.
