Kosovo headed to early elections again, as deal on new president-candidate fails amid split of opposition lawmakers

Prishtina, 01 September 2026, dtt-net.com – Yesterday’s agreement on a candidate for Kosovo’s new President failed today, as six lawmakers of the Democratic League (LDK) reject the compromise made by party’s leader Lumir Abdixhiku with the caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti of Vetevendosje (LVV) party, thus sending the country to new parliamentary elections, likely by year’s end.
