North Macedonia opposition calls PM to seek extradition of fugitive former PM from Hungary

Skopje, 21 April 2026, dtt-net.com – The main opposition party in North Macedonia has stepped up calls on the Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski to seek from incoming head of government in Hungary extradition of fugitive former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski who is sentenced in the country of corruption, abuse of office and money laundering. “Mickoski and VMRO-VMRO are not doing anything. They don't want Gruevski back in Macedonia and they don't want him to face justice. This is classic protection of Nikola Gruevski by Hristijan Mickoski,” the social-democrat SDSM party said in a new press statement, accusing Mickoski of protecting his conservative fugitive party colleague.
