Belgrade/Sarajevo, 21 January 2026, dtt-net.com – Russia says that there are “opportunities” for Moscow to engage with the USA in the Western Balkans region, including in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
“We have more opportunities to engage with the United States in the Balkans, both regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries in the region. Such contacts exist. They haven't yet led to any positive results, or any concrete ones for that matter. But we're open to them. As far as I can tell, our American colleagues are also willing to develop them,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters yesterday in a press conference, according to a transcript from the ministry.
