Serbia students and opposition hope Orban’s authoritarian friend will be toppled too

Belgrade, 12 April 2026, dtt-net.com – Students and opposition parties in Serbia expressed joy of Viktor Orban losing Sunday elections after 16 years in power, hoping that same will happen to his friend and partner in the country, the authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic. “Let the next one be prepared,” a group of students said through X, after Orban conceded defeat to Peter Magyar. “We want such a change in Serbia too. Congratulations on the victory and the courage to return Hungary to the path of freedom, justice and Europe! Freedom is coming to Serbia soon!,” the leader of Serbia’s Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) Dragan Djilas said on his part.
