Thousands protest in North Macedonia as top court annuls streets renaming in Albanian-predominantly town

Skopje, 26 June 2026, dtt-net.com – Thousands of Albanians today took the streets to protest a decision of the constitutional court of last week, repealing a decision of Tetova municipality assembly of 2007 to rename eleven streets and squares. The protest called by the opposition Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) is about names with most of them relating to Albanian personalities but includes also Macedonian names, which town’s assembly decided when it held majority 19 years ago.
