Strasbourg, 17 June 2025, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) today formally made legislative proposal to 27 member states to phase out gas and oil imports from Russia as of end 2027, with similar proposal on nuclear energy imports to follow later this year.
The European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, said the proposal will be voted by a qualified majority of member states, adding that there would be legal consequences if any member state would refuse to comply with the ban – referring to Hungary – once adopted by member countries and the European Parliament.
