EU socialist lawmakers call the EC and member states not to reward authoritarian Serbia’s president

Brussels, 07 July 2026, dtt-net.com – The socialist group of the European Parliament on Tuesday called the European Commission (EC) and EU member states not to reward the authoritarian President of Serbia, for his, what they called, “token” reforms. The Socialists and Democrats group (S&D) in a press statement called the EU to maintain pressure on Aleksandar Vucic and not to appease him, as the EC and some member states are recently trying to convince other member states to open cluster 3 of negotiating chapters in accession negotiations.
