North Macedonia’s opposition accuses government of offering amnesty to fugitive sentenced ex-PM in exchange of help for votes on Bulgaria imposed constitutional changes for EU talks

Skopje/Brussels, 21 September 2023, dtt-net.com – The main opposition party of Macedonians, the conservative VMRO-DPMNE, accused the governing coalition of changing criminal code, which lowers prison sentences for officials, as result of secret negotiations with the former prime minister Nikola Gruevski, a fugitive in Hungary, hoping he would convince some party’s lawmakers to support the proposal for making constitutional changes imposed by Bulgaria which the country needs to continue EU accession negotiations.
