Belgrade, 25 June 2026, dtt-net.com – The Parliament of Serbia today adopted reviewed changes to judiciary laws made in January, after heavy criticism by opposition and the European Commission (EC). The legislative body dominated by the Progressive Party (SNS) of President Aleksandar Vucic and his allies, adopted the Law on Amendments to the Law on Public Prosecution, the Law on Amendments to the Law on Judges and the Law on Amendments to the Law on the High Prosecution Council (HPC), the Law on Amendments to the Law on Seats and Areas of Courts and Public Prosecutor's Offices and the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Organization and Competence of State Authorities for the Fight against High-Tech Crime (VTK) were adopted.
The parliamentary majority rejected several amendments proposed by the opposition.
Changes to the January version are made following consultations with the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, after the opposition and the EC accused Vucic’s SNS of attempting to put under control the prosecutor’s office and hinder judiciary’s independence.
